Set up a new user for Netscape 6.X.
- In Netscape 6.X, select Start | Netscape 6 (or 6.2) | Profile Manager.
- Select Create Profile, Click on Next.
- Enter your New Profile name in the text box and Click on Finish.
- Select the newly created profile and Click on Start Netscape 6.

Set the 'DZFX' URL in Netscape Preferences for the Startup and Home buttons.
- Enter the URL www.dzfx.com into the Location Bar and press Enter.
- Select Edit | Preferences.
- Click on the Use Current Page button.
- Click on OK.

| Removing Preset Bookmarks | |

Clean out all bookmarks to avoid distractions in the classroom.
- Click on Bookmarks | select Manage Bookmarks.
- Highlight all bookmarks and folders except the Personal Toolbar folder itself.
- Press the Delete key.
- Do NOT delete Personal Toolbar Folder!
- OK, if you accidentally deleted the Personal Toolbar Folder, you may remake it. (See Creating Bookmark Folder).
- Close the Bookmarks window.
To remove additional items in the Personal Toolbar you must:
- Click on Edit | Preferences.
- Select Navigator from the left menu.
- Deselect Toolbar Search, My Netscape, Net2Phone, and Shop.
- Click OK.

Place 'MP' and DZFX URL's onto your Personal Toolbar.
- Type the URL marcopolo.worldcom.com or www.dzfx.com into the Location Bar and press Enter.
- Click, hold, and drag the little bookmark icon in front of the Location Bar onto the Personal Toolbar.
- Your cursor changes into a hand over the bookmark icon, and then into a link with a plus sign. When you drop it on the Personal Toolbar, a button will form.

| Creating a Bookmark Folder | |

Make a folder to organize your bookmarks.
- Click on Bookmarks | Manage Bookmarks
- Select File | New Folder.
- Name the folder and click on OK.

File a Bookmark into your folder.
- Click on Bookmarks | select File Bookmarks.
- Select the folder you wish to hold your bookmark.

Save your Bookmarks to disk in Netscape 6.X.
- Click on Bookmarks | Manage Bookmarks
- Select the folder or folders that you would like to save.
- Select File | Export Bookmarks.
- Save to disk.

Show how to Import Bookmarks.
- Click on Bookmarks | select Manage Bookmarks
- Select File | Import Bookmarks.
- Browse to locate the bookmarks, select the bookmarks, and click on Open.

Open Bookmarks as a Web page (less invasive).
Select File | Open File | Select Bookmark file and Click Open.

| Copy & Pasting Information | |

Copy and Paste text to Notepad or Word to collect your information.
- Highlight the text in the Web page.
- Select Edit | Copy.
- Select Start | Programs | Accessories | Notepad.
- Select Edit | Paste in the Notepad window.
- Click on the Navigator button on the Task Bar or press Alt-Tab to flip between application windows.
Note: Don't forget to copy and paste the URL so you can remember where you got the information.

Save a picture from the Web.
- Right-click on the picture.
- Select Save Picture As and save to disk.

| Using Pictures in a Class | |

As the History teacher, you show a picture of the Allied Soldiers storming Normandy Beach to grab the attention of your students at the beginning of class.
How? Search for a Web site about D-Day. Locate your picture and right click on the picture and select Save Image As to save it to disk. In class you can then open Netscape off-line and click on File | Open Page | click the Browse button | Select your file | Open | Open.
There you have it!

| Displaying Several Pictures | |

As the Art teacher, you can display several famous paintings from the Louvre museum to start a group discussion on Renaissance art with your class.
How? Search for the Louvre. Grab your pictures as described above. To prepare your graphic presentation, open your browser off-line, click on File | Open Page | Select your file | Open | Open. Cache your pictures. To present them, simply use the Back and Forward buttons to bring each up for viewing and discussion.

Open a second window in your browser.
- Select File | New | Navigator window.
|
|
|

|
As the science teacher you can show actual photos of two planets so your students can compare planet sizes.
How? Search for pictures of the planets in the solar system. Grab your graphics, go off-line, and in your browser open a second window so you can view each picture in a separate window. Finally, you may right-click on the Task bar and select Tile Vertically to view both pictures side by side.

| Closing Unnecessary Windows | |

Watch along the taskbar for multiple windows to pop up. Close unnecessary ones to keep Netscape running smoothly.

- Select File | Save As and save to disk.
- To view the page offline, select File | Open Page or Open File | Select your file | Open | Open.
